Teresa comes from a family of building contractors. She rennovated her first home, then designed and built a handcrafted home with her husband. Her current home, a rennovated 1870 pre-Victorian cottage, was on the Eureka Heritage Society Home Tour of 2008 and won the 2009 Residential Restoration & Landscaping Merit Award from 'Keep Eureka Beautiful'.
